Full time, continuing position based in Sydney's CBD, close to public transport
Base salary between $140,913 to $148,684 + 17% super + leave loading
About the opportunity
A leading institute has an exciting new opportunity for a talented Business Development Manager. This is a strategic solution-selling role that will give exciting scope and opportunity to grow research funding within the Faculty of Medicine and Health.
As a powerhouse of R&D empowered by 1,560 researchers, this Faculty has generated $1.3 billion in research income over the past five years, including $554 million in national competitive grants. With 1,530 higher degree by research completions and over 37,000 academic publications generating more than 900,000 citations. The faculty is ranked 1st in Australia and 13th globally for nursing, 2nd in Australia and 4th globally for sports-related subjects, and 2nd in Australia and 25th globally for medicine, according to the QS Rankings by Subject 2023.
As the Business Development Manager for Medicine and Health, you will be responsible for identifying and developing Research & Development opportunities for cutting edge University research capabilities. You will operate as a strategic engagement manager within the Medicine and Health sector, working alongside top researchers and with support from members of the Research Operations team to design business development initiatives driving up research funding and delivering research with real-world applications.
Reporting to the Senior Business Development Manager, Medicine and Health, your key responsibilities will be:
Developing a pipeline of opportunities that deliver a return on investment and revenue for the University
Promoting research relationships between researchers and medicine and health industry
Supporting researchers to communicate information that facilitates funding and collaboration opportunities
Prospecting for new engagement opportunities, creating and qualifying engagements
Contributing to research, including the development and promotion of medicine and health research networks
Building relationships with Deans, Associate Deans, Heads of School and Faculty Managers
Facilitating the generation of capability profiles and case studies for the University in the medicine and health sector

Commercial experience in the Medicine and Health sector (academic, research institutes or industry)
Excellent presentation and communication skills
Experience in managing multiple and complex stakeholder relationships
Demonstrated conceptual, analytical and report writing skills related to partnership development
Experience in identifying opportunities and developing strategies to capitalise on these opportunities
A network of key stakeholders within the Medicine & Health industry is highly desirable
Track record in developing and closing business development leads, particularly in the medicine and health sector.
